　日本は国際捕鯨取締条約に基づき、１９８７年から南極海で、９４年には北西太平洋も加えてクジラの生態などを調べる調査捕鯨を続けてきた。南極海の調査について、３月のＩＣＪ判決は「科学的ではない」として中止を命令。北西太平洋の調査は判決の対象外だが、「判決に含まれる理由付けと結論を考慮することが期待される」との記述があり、政府内ですべての調査計画を判決に沿って見直す必要があるとの意見が出ていた。

鹿児島県警の男性警部が鹿児島市内の警察署の交通課長だった２０１１～１３年ごろ、担当した交通事故の実況見分調書を部下に指示して偽造した疑いのあることがわかった。内部調査に対して偽造を認めているという。県警は警部の処分を検討するとともに、虚偽有印公文書作成・同行使の疑いで捜査している。

　県警監察課などによると、この警部は当時、車同士の交通事故の捜査を担当していた。事故後に関係者からあらためて事情を聴いた際、事故当時の車の位置関係について当初の説明と異なる供述が出たため、供述に合うように実況見分調書の記載内容の一部を書き換え、作成日を偽って調書を作り直すよう部下に指示した疑いがある。

　事故当事者の指摘で偽造が発覚。監察課は「警部に過失割合を変えるなどの意図はなく、捜査への影響はなかった」としている。

　鹿児島県警では昨年１２月、組織犯罪対策課の男性警部＝依願退職＝が、暴力団関連事件の捜査で被害者の供述調書を改ざんしたとして、虚偽有印公文書作成・同行使などの疑いで書類送検され、今年３月に在宅起訴された

警視庁捜査１課が７日にも同容疑などで長岩容疑者を再逮捕する方針を固めたことが６日、

現場周辺では２人死傷の民家火災など８件の連続不審火が起きており、
捜査１課はいずれも長岩容疑者の犯行とみている。

　捜査関係者によると、長岩容疑者は３月１７日午後１０時半ごろ、同区大山町のコンビニ店で、
木炭が入った段ボール箱にライターで火を付けて焼損させた疑いがもたれている。
店内の防犯カメラに木炭の陳列棚付近をうろつく様子が写っていたという。

　長岩容疑者は同１１時ごろ、近くの駐車場で車のバンパーが燃える不審火が起きた直後、
ライター２個を持っていたところを警戒中の警察官に取り押さえられ、器物損壊容疑で現行犯逮捕されていた。

　現場周辺の半径約１５０メートルの範囲では同１０時以降、コンビニ店と駐車場の他に、
民家が全焼し、住人の無職女性（８８）が死亡、息子（６４）がやけどで重傷を負うなどの不審火が６件発生。
いずれも長岩容疑者の新聞配達のルート沿いで起きていた。

　長岩容疑者は逮捕時に泥酔状態で、「むしゃくしゃしてやった。他にもやったと思う」と供述。
その後は「酔っていて覚えていない」と話しているという。
